We install grab bars,
it’s all we do.

A simple grab bar, when properly placed, can prevent a slip or fall that has the potential to lead to months of rehab. I personally found this to be true when I installed grab bars for my own parents years ago.

about us

Detroit Grab Bar has been providing families with peace of mind for 15 years. As a company, we specialize in grab bar installation. A simple grab bar, when properly placed, can prevent a slip or fall that has the potential to lead to months of rehab. I personally found this to be true when I installed grab bars for my own parents years ago. My mother still uses them today and is pleased to share how she feels so much more secure living independently.

Detroit Grab Bar can place a handicap bar to allow a safe step in and out of a tub or shower, or beside a toilet to allow extra support that may be needed to comfortably get up and down. A shower or toilet grab bar will provide you with the extra balance and security you need to feel safe in your bathroom. After 15 years as the Grout Doctor, we know how to work with tile and stone, and can ensure you your grab bars will always be mounted securely. Our goal is to keep you standing!

HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR GRAB BAR

When installing a Grab Bar for home and bathroom safety, there are many elements to consider in order to ensure the best placement. Our goal is to evaluate your needs so we can provide you with the proper installation so that you feel safe and secure in your household.

Picking The Right Place

When selecting the most beneficial placement of your ADA-compliant grab bar it is important to pay attention to the places that you find yourself looking for extra assistance. Some common locations for your bathroom grab bar include the shower, by the shower, or next to the toilet.

Grab Bars can be installed horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. It is important to understand each of these options when installing your Handicap Grab Bar.

  • Horizontal installation

This option is great for providing support in a larger area along a wall. However, this option’s grip can potentially create strain on the wrist for those with joint issues.

  • Vertical installation

This option allows easy grip as well as great stabilization in specific areas, such as getting in and out of the shower. One disadvantage is that this option limits support to one specific area in a room.

  • Diagonal installation

This option provides more versatility with support regarding different heights and areas. Diagonal positioning is most beneficial for areas where you would need assistance getting up.

Grab bars come in a variety of diameters to best assist your needs. While 1 1/2” is the standard size, a smaller diameter may work better for someone who has smaller hands or joint issues.
